The silence from the movie industry on the issue of the casting couch was also slammed by several actors. In a press conference Apoorva encouraged the leading actors of the film industry to come out in support of women like they are portrayed fighting for women in the movies. In response to the way MAA banned Sri Reddy, Apoorva withdrew from the membership of the MAA in protest. The film body Movie Artistes Association (MAA) had banned Sri Reddy for the protest. In 2018, Apoorva actively participated in the protests with Telugu actress Sri Reddy Mallidi on the issue of sexual exploitation in Tollywood that was alleged to be happening on an a very large scale.
Protests were successful in the set of required framework as demanded. These protests were compared to the Me Too movement and led to the involvement of the National Human Rights Commission of India in the issue.
